Hare
The brown hare is Britain’s fastest land mammal; it has been known to run at speeds exceeding 40mph. Hare have a mystique attached to them in country folklore - there are hares as goddesses and the companions of goddesses, hares as messengers, as fertility symbols, and as tricksters. Hares are associated with Easter and eggs, with madness in March, with the moon and with the elixir of life.
